Who we are

Frank Finance is a personal finance dashboard operated by an individual (the "operator"). It is provided as a small, non-commercial service. Questions or requests: lifranksites@gmail.com (see the contact page).

What we collect

  • Account information: your email address and a hashed password (we never store plaintext passwords).
  • Financial data: account balances, holdings, and transactions synced from institutions you choose to connect, plus any accounts or transactions you enter manually.
  • Connection tokens: access tokens issued by our data providers (Plaid, SnapTrade) for the institutions you connect. Your bank and brokerage login credentials never touch our servers — you enter them directly with the provider or your institution.

We do not collect advertising identifiers and we do not sell or share your data with advertisers or data brokers. Ever.

Service providers we rely on

  • Plaid — connects bank and credit card accounts (Plaid privacy policy).
  • SnapTrade — connects brokerage accounts (SnapTrade privacy policy).
  • Google Gemini API — transaction descriptions and amounts are sent to Google's API to automatically categorize your transactions.
  • Railway — application and database hosting (United States).
  • Resend — transactional email (confirmations, password resets).

How we protect your data

  • All traffic is encrypted in transit (TLS/HTTPS).
  • Provider access tokens and other sensitive fields are encrypted at rest in the database.
  • Your data is scoped to your household: other users of the service cannot see it.

Retention and deletion

Your data is kept while your account is active. When you delete your account, your financial data and provider connections are deleted, and connected institutions are deregistered from our data providers. You may also request deletion or a copy of your data by email at any time.

Open source

This service runs open-source software licensed under AGPLv3. The source code, including our modifications, is available via the "Source" link in the footer.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the effective date above will be updated. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
